Since 2010, FNA has created aviation opportunities for our Community

Your Aviation Journey and Ours.

First Nations Aviation is an exciting and inspired company that runs various programmes with the aim of increasing employment, education and training outcomes for First Nations people in the aviation industry. Through targeted strategic partnerships, First Nations Aviation caters to both community and industry needs whilst addressing social and economic disadvantages within Indigenous communities. First Nations Aviation has established partnerships with renowned project stakeholders, whereby the following outcomes will be achieved:

  • Giving early exposure to the aviation industry through tours of local aviation organisations and local flight experiences for school aged children and young adults. Becoming aware of an aviation career at a young age assists with long term goal setting for young people. This then helps with setting educational and life goals from a young age.

Aviation is a great way of engaging young people, increasing motivation to improve themselves by gaining transferable skills with all areas of their life.

  • Commercial Pilot Licence Cadet Programmes include comprehensive tours of aviation facilities and trial instructional flights for those serious about flying. This is about experiencing a real taste of what it is like to become a pilot. Allowing young people to see real tangible aviation outcomes and start aviation career goals.

This is the start of logging flight hours towards future training and the start of a life in the aviation sector.

  • A training program that allows high-school aged teens and young adults to commence pilot training as well as gaining qualification towards a Commercial Pilots Licence (Including Private Pilots Licence); with ground theory training for students that have been selected by the committee.

This stage of cadets aviation training involves immersing the young person in the aviation career while still in their later years of high school.

We provide cadets with great supports, including industry mentors, further enhancing motivation and progression in developing their educational and life goals.

School retention and further education is at the core of what we are seeking with each young person. The skills learnt at this stage of their life, with our programmes teachings, are highly transferable to all future educational and life outcomes.

The cultural aspects also provide further links and supports for the young person to community, mentors and their culture.

  • Over 4 years, cadets will achieve:

    • Diploma, Degree and Commercial/Airline Pilots Licence with an Instructor Rating and

    • Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating and over 700 hours (total flight time).

With extensive mentoring, community and cultural experiences, this will contribute to each cadets balanced aviation career.

Cadets on completion of their training will stay with FNA in a mentor and flight instructor employment role.

After this phase, cadets will be given the opportunity to work within partner organisations or stay with FNA to continue mentoring and flying operations.

While training and working at FNA, cadets will be able to develop both their mentoring and aviation skills in a real world environment. This will equip them with the necessary skills and experience to go onto a long and successful aviation career.

  • First Nations Aviation is founded by proud Gamilaraay man Adam Brady, a Charter Pilot and Grade One Flight Instructor with expertise as both Head of Operations and Chief Pilot as well as qualifications in Community Development.

Having secured commercial support through enduring partnerships, First Nations Aviation is able to offer excursions, training opportunities and links to aviation employment outcomes.

These partnerships include: the Department of Defence, Education and Training enterprises, and Aviation Companies such as

This programme is a reality for both the Aboriginal and broader communities of the Illawarra and surrounding regions thanks also to the committed support of Partners.

With the establishment of this business, and the flight training company in operation at Shellharbour airport, First Nations Aviation will continue the work of Boorowa Aviation, carried out over the past decade.

We look forward to working with you.
